Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke called in at the Basingstoke Foodbank at Sarum Hall, Trinity Methodist Church recently. The Foodbank, which has been set up by local churches as part of the Trussell Trust, began its operations in October and has already helped over 150 people in crisis.
During her visit, Maria met the project and centre managers, the treasurer and other volunteers at the Foodbank and heard about the service they are providing and help they are receiving from churches, schools, businesses and individuals in the town.
Maria said: "This Foodbank is made possible because of the generous donations of local residents and businesses and the time and expertise given by those who run it. This is an important local support service for those individuals who face the very toughest financial circumstances."
