Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke, was pleased to join the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, Cllr Dan Putty, at the recent opening of a new patio area at the Cafe Dome in Brighton Hill.
The Cafe Dome is a community cafe, which was opened two years ago to give young people with learning disabilities the opportunity to train and work in a cafe open to the public. The patio at the rear of the cafe has been developed as an outdoor seating area and was funded by De La Rue.
Maria said: “I was delighted to be asked to officially “open” the new patio area at the Cafe Dome. This is a brilliant project, providing an important training facility for young adults with learning difficulties. It’s also a really bright and welcoming place to come for a coffee and a bite to eat, and is clearly popular with the local community. The new patio area is a great addition, thanks to De La Rue who have supported the Cafe from the outset.”
