The company, which is based in Church Street in the town centre, has recently won a major order for filters to protect Freeview TV channels from interference when 4G mobile phone networks are rolled out across the UK later this year. The contract was awarded by Digital Mobile Spectrum Limited, which is responsible for dealing with such interference and is funded by four telecommunication companies.
The rollout of 4G mobile communication falls within Maria’s ministerial responsibilities as Culture Secretary, so she was particularly interested to visit Link Microtek and hear more about the filters as well as other products from Managing Director Steve Cranstone and Sales Director Stuart Hendry.
Maria said: “Link Microtek has a key part to play in making sure that the 4G rollout goes smoothly by providing filters for television systems up and down the country. It was great to learn more about this, and also about their other areas of business. Like other companies in the Basingstoke area, they are a great example of innovative manufacturing and we should celebrate their achievements.”
