MARIA UPDATED ON DROUGHT SITUATION

Following the Environment Secretary’s announcement on 20 February that the south east of England is officially in drought, Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke, has been updated on the drought situation in Basingstoke

Maria Miller calls for Basingstoke residents to have their say on future of the Borough

Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke, has welcomed the publication by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council of their blueprint for planning the future of the Borough. The Council has launched a six week consultation on their Core Strategy, which is the key document of the Local Development Framework, and sets out principles and policies regarding development here over the next 15 years.

MP WELCOMES INCREASE IN GRIT BINS ACROSS BASINGSTOKE

During the spell of colder weather, Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke, went out to see for herself some of the new grit bins that Hampshire County Council has deployed across the town and has been hearing about how the Council had prepared itself to cope with severe weather. 

MARIA SAYS WATER WHITE PAPER IS A CALL FOR ACTION TO TACKLE FURTHER THREATS TO RIVER LODDON

Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke, has welcomed the publication on 8 December of the Government’s White Paper “Water for Life”, which she describes as a “call to action” for the protection of our rivers from pollution and over-abstraction. Maria  highlights the damage that has been done to the River Loddon which she says must be haltedand reversed. 

MARIA VISITS EVEREST COMMUNITY ACADEMY

Basingstoke MP Maria Miller paid a visit to Everest Community Academy last week, her first visit to the school since it became an Academy on 1 September 2011.
