MARIA MILLER MP RESPONDS TO CONSULTATION ON LOCAL PLAN

Maria Miller has submitted her response to the latest consultation on the draft Local Plan.  Maria said: “We have to make sure that any new house building goes hand in hand with the necessary investment in local services.

MARIA MILLER, MP SUPPORTS CARBON MONOXIDE - BE ALARMED CAMPAIGN

Maria is supporting a call from the Carbon Monoxide – Be Alarmed! campaign to make 2016 the year everyone protects themselves from this silent killer. The campaign urges everyone to fit and maintain an audible Carbon Monoxide alarm and ensure all fuel-burning appliances are serviced annually by a registered and qualified engineer. 

MARIA MILLER MP VISITS LOCAL SCHOOLS

Maria recently visited Winklebury Infant and Junior Schools as part of her programme of regular visits to Basingstoke Schools. After a short tour, she met members of both School Councils. Last Friday, she attended the official opening of the new primary school at Rooksdown.

MARIA MILLER MP MEETS ENTREPRENEURS AT BASINGSTOKE HIGH-TECH HUB

Maria Miller visited the SETsquared hub at Basing View to meet some of the entrepreneurs participating in the business incubation programme, which helps to support and develop high-tech start-up businesses. The Entrepreneurship Training Programme was highly commended by the Government at the Enterprising Britain Awards in November last year, and Maria took the opportunity to congratulate them on the award.

Maria Miller, MP Gets Action to Raise Quality of New Homes

Maria Miller has secured support from the Government to start to rid the new house building market of the current quality lottery which leaves too many new home buyers coping with major build problems after they move in.

Maria said: “I was really pleased to see the new school now that it has been completed. I had last visited the school in February 2015 while it was being constructed and it is fantastic to see how it has been developed into an exciting and modern learning environment.

MARIA MILLER, MP WELCOMES HEARTBURN CANCER BATTLE BUS TO WESTMINSTER

Maria welcomed Heartburn Cancer UK to Westminster today, meeting with constituent Beryl Huntingdon at the charity’s ‘Battle Bus’, which was parked at Old Palace Yard. Maria said: ‘It is great that Heartburn Cancer UK have come here today to raise awareness of Oesophageal Cancer which is the fifth biggest cancer in the UK. Getting early treatment is vital yet most people are unaware of the symptoms. Here in the UK we have the highest number of incidences of Oesophageal Cancer in the world but research lags twenty years behind that in other cancers."
