Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke, attended a Parliamentary Reception on 24 June, hosted by North West Hampshire MP the Rt Hon Sir George Young, on behalf of Sebastian’s Action Trust.
The Trust works with the families of seriously ill and life-limited children, from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.
The Trust is holding its second annual Christmas in July campaign, which highlights the fact that for many families who are supported by the Trust, Christmas 2014 is sadly not an event that they will be able to enjoy, and so need to celebrate Christmas early to help make memories that will last a life-time.
Maria joined Sir George and Hampshire County Councillor Anna McNair Scott in speaking to Susan Murray, whose family has benefitted from the Trust, and who now works as an Outreach Worker to help others in similar circumstances.
Maria said: “I was pleased to be able to show my support for the fantastic work that Sebastian’s Action Trust does for such seriously ill children and their families. I have seen at first hand the respite holiday home that the Trust runs just outside Basingstoke, and know that all members of the children’s families value the opportunity to spend precious time there.”
