Maria Miller has welcomed the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS)’s announcement that 15 charities in Basingstoke have received £116,869 in funding as part of the £200m Coronavirus Community Support Fund.

Maria said, ‘The Coronavirus Community Support Fund has been a crucial part of the Government’s response to COVID by ensuring local voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors can continue their vital work during this difficult period. I have had the privilege of visiting many of the Basingstoke charities who have received this funding over the past few months, and I can’t thank them enough for the incredible work they’ve done for our community since the beginning of the pandemic.”

The Government’s Support Fund has not only helped larger charities working in Basingstoke, but has also provided funding to 15 of Basingstoke’s local charities. These include:

5. Chineham Village Hall & Recreation Ground (£8,300)

8. The Cafe Project (£1,600)
9. Basingstoke Citizens Advice Bureau (£9,630)
10. London street United Reformed Church (£9,920)
11. Westside community Association CIO (£9,995)
12. Basingstoke Mencap Services (£9,950)
13. Basingstoke and district disability forum (£8,550)
14. The Samaritans of Basingstoke (£2,100)
15. Viables Community Association (£15,099)
