Maria met with Debbie Tann, Chief Executive of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust to discuss the implications of leaving the EU on Wildlife and the Environment. Maria also signed the Trust’s pledge to ensure that wildlife and their habitats continue to be protected and the Farming Sector supported.
Maria commented; “Much of the protection for the environment and wildlife is linked to our membership of the EU. The Government has already committed to transferring all relevant EU legislation into British law through a Great Repeal Bill but it is vital that expert organisations like the Wildlife Trust work with MPs to ensure protections are strong in the future. It was very helpful to meet with the Trust and discuss the ways in which Wildlife and the Countryside can continue to be protected.”
