Maria spoke about her work as Chair of the Women and Equalities Select committee and the vital role women play in leadership and the workplace at a Women and Leadership event held at the Proteus Creation Space in Basingstoke.

The committee’s enquiries look into a wide range of topics and Maria spoke about the need for a more flexible workplace better suited to the needs of both employers and employees alike.

Attendees also heard from other speakers, including Cllr Terri Reid, Deputy Leader of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Cllr Hannah Golding and Mary Swan, Chief Executive of Proteus.

Maria commented: “It was wonderful to take part in today’s event, organised and attended by women, all with a passion to make a difference to their workplace and communities. I look forward to attending more events aimed at ensuring women reach their full potential.”
