Maria met with Basingstoke Town Ladies Football Club (BTLFC) to celebrate their league victory. BTLFC club won the Southern Region Women's Football League Premier Division and is now looking for promotion into the FA Women's Premier League, Southwest Division 1 (FAWPL). 

The Club have built a good foundation for local women's football within the Basingstoke area, recently developing a Reserve Team that has been successful from scratch with the strong support of the committed volunteers at the Club. The Reserve Team are also currently competing in the Hampshire County Women's League Division two.

Maria commented:  “Basingstoke Town Ladies FC’s promotion from Regional football into the Premier League is an outstanding achievement. It is a clear demonstration that with commitment, dedication and vision, Women’s football can go from strength to strength - a real ley.gacy from the London 2012 Olympics.

“We need to see more female role models in sport at a local and national level. That is why we need to support the tremendous efforts of this dedicated team and help them achieve their goals.”
