Local MP Maria Miller had a series of virtual meetings and calls with the Food bank and community hubs during the second lockdown.
Maria commented; “ The Food Bank and community hubs demonstrate what a strong and resilient community we have here in Basingstoke. I would like to thank all of those involved in running and supporting the community hubs and Food Bank for their extraordinary efforts in ensuring that those in need of help have been supported. The effects of the pandemic can not be underestimated not only in terms of the economy, income and jobs but on health and mental well-being. The hubs and food bank have gone that extra mile in ensuring that help is at hand.”
“Many thousands of jobs in Basingstoke have been safeguarded by employers shifting to home working where possible and the Government’s Furlough Scheme. But some individuals and families are still struggling as a result of the impact of this Pandemic. That is why the work of the Foodbank and local Emergency Hubs is still so important. “
