Maria visited RDT, a Basingstoke Technology Business and met with CEO and founder, Graham Murphy and Major General Martin Bricknell to celebrate the company’s contract with the Ministry of Defence bringing more jobs to Basingstoke. RDT specialises in the design and manufacture of medical devices, including pre-hospital care vital signs monitors. These devices are used on Aircraft and by Armed Forces across the world.
The technology is used in remote and challenging locations far away from medical help. The devices enable a non-medical person to obtain and transmit a sick or injured person’s vital signs to trusted medical support for treatment advice. The company also designs and manufactures other equipment that can be used by medical staff in diagnosis.
Maria commented; “RDT is a ground–breaking company and their success in securing this contract demonstrates the strong entrepreneurial, engineering and technological talent available in Basingstoke. RDT is a fantastic example of a Basingstoke company focussed on products providing an invaluable service. This talent pool supports a thriving hub of high growth, high tech businesses in Basingstoke. This contract will sustain over 60 jobs at RDT’s Basingstoke facility and has helped in the creation of 20 new roles in the company. I congratulate Graham and his team on this tremendous achievement. ”
