Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke, called in last Saturday at the Greening Chineham Information Event on “Water Efficiency in the Home and Garden”.
The event, held at Chineham Village Hall, included presentations from South East Water on the drought situation, Basingstoke water resources and the programme of compulsory water meter installation that will begin later this year. There were also information stalls about different aspects of water efficiency, and tips for green cleaning from the Green Gang, including experiments using phosphate free detergents.
Maria said: “I was very pleased to be able to support the Greening Chineham information day. It was particularly timely to get tips for saving water at this time of drought, and I was glad to see so many people attending.”
Maria added: “It was really interesting to see the Green Gang’s experiments with phosphate free detergents. I am encouraging everyone in Basingstoke to switch to phosphate free detergents, which will help to reduce the pollution in the River Loddon.”
