Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke, recently called in to see the work that Loddon Social Enterprise is doing with adults with special needs. The charity, which is based in Cranbourne Lane, Basingstoke, provides work experience and training opportunities for people with learning disabilities to help them to develop life skills in a workplace environment. Maria was welcomed by Cathy Marshall, the Workshop Manager, and also talked with other staff including Sian Ratcliff and Claire Harris, and two of the Charity’s Trustees, Cllr Onnalee Cubitt and John Strawbridge. She had an opportunity to meet many of the service users and hear their views about Loddon Social Enterprise. Cllr Brian Gurden, who is the local County Councillor for the area, was also visiting at the same time. Maria said: “I was really pleased to be invited to visit the Loddon Social Enterprise workshop and hear about what they are doing. It was great to be able to meet so many of the service users, and see the sorts of work experience and social contact that they are having. This is a really valuable organisation, and I applaud them for the work they are doing.”
