The Transport Secretary has announced major new investment for the M3 Junction 6 and the Black Dam roundabout. A total of £4.3 million will be spent in 2014/15 to reduce the queuing traffic on the M3 off-slips, by improving advance lane signing and marking on the approaches, and around the roundabout. Black Dam roundabout will also be converted so that the main road passes through the centre, as well as widening on the A30.
Commenting on this announcement, Basingstoke MP Maria Miller said: “It is good news that the Government has earmarked £4.3 million to make these badly needed improvements at Junction 6. It is really important that the focus is on filling some of the infrastructure gap that has been left after record house building levels in Basingstoke dictated by the last government’s centrally driven targets, without the necessary investment in our roads.”
