Local MP Maria Miller recently called in at Basingstoke Discovery Centre in Festival Place, where she had been asked to officially open the new Coffee Shop in the Centre.

Maria was welcomed by the Discovery Centre Manager Sarah Gray, and joined other guests including Cllr Elaine Still, who chairs the County Council’s Culture Select Committee, and other Councillors and local residents.

Maria said: “We are really lucky in having such a wonderful facility here in the centre of the town, and the addition of this new Coffee Shop will make it even more attractive to customers.”

She added: “As well as the regular customers, many of the people who attend the different groups that meet here will also be able to socialise over a coffee, for example the parents attending the NHS baby clinics and the adults with learning disabilities at the Learning at the Centre Project.”
