The Highways Agency has announced that further sections of the M3 motorway between junctions 6 and 5 will be resurfaced with noise reducing material.
This work will be carried out mainly between late August and late September.
Maria said: “Working with local residents I have campaigned for the resurfacing of the M3.”
“This important maintenance will improve the road surface making it safer for drivers and quieter for local residents. I will continue to press for further resurfacing of other stretches of the M3 in the Basingstoke area.”
The Highways Agency is resurfacing deteriorated sections of a 3.7km stretch of the southbound carriageway of the M3 and parts of the northbound carriageway in the Hatch area. There are also plans to resurface the slip roads and roundabout at junction 6 at Basingstoke, as well as parts of the southbound carriageway through junction 6 (although the timing of this work has yet to be confirmed).
Further details of the scheme will be available on the Highways Agency website, www.highways.gov.uk.
