Basingstoke MP Maria Miller has expressed concern at the news that Thames Water plans would mean 85 lorries a week moving sewage sludge from other areas to Basingstoke Sewage Treatment Works; one lorry approximately every half hour in a normal working day.
Maria said: “These plans mean residents could face significant numbers of additional heavy goods traffic on our already congested roads. At present there appears to be no evidence that our road network could cope with this level of additional traffic, particularly around the motorway junction, the ring road, and the A33 around Chineham.”
