Local MP, Maria Miller is encouraging all Basingstoke residents to use StreetLink, a new national hotline and website service that connects rough sleepers with the local help and advice they need to get off the streets and get their lives back on track.
Maria said “Many Basingstoke residents want to help the people they see sleeping rough, however they often don’t know what to do. I am pleased that the Department for Communities and Local Government has supported homelessness charities Homeless Link and Broadway to develop this new service.
This is a much needed service especially in the current adverse weather conditions and I urge all Basingstoke residents to get behind StreetLink and call if they see someone in need.”
The telephone hotline, 0300 500 0914, and website – www.streetlink.org.uk – allow concerned members of the public to connect rough sleepers with local advice and services they may not be aware of. A Smartphone app is also available to download.
Streetlink is funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government, and has been developed in partnership with Homeless Link and Broadway.
