Local MP Maria Miller dropped into Basingstoke engineering business LG Motion in Telford Road to see their work in robotics. Maria opened the businesses' original factory in Bessemer Park in 2005. Since then local business owner Gary Livingstone has expanded and diversified, working with a range of clients from film to aerospace.
Maria said, "It has been incredible to watch the development of Gary's business, which is now routinely using hi-tech robots for precision tasks. I was shown how they operate by some of the company’s apprentices. With clients from the film, aerospace, and space industry including locally AWE, Gary has also received an Innovate UK Grant of £1Million in conjunction with Surrey University to research autonomous robot food picking."
Garry, who studied at BCoT with an engineering apprenticeship, now runs a multitude of businesses including LG Motion, MiniTec and Precision Acoustics, is continuing to invest and expand with an additional £500,000 in infrastructure and investment on the shop floor and a further £250,000 investment for automated cutting and storage machinery.
