Maria Miller MP visited the newly expanded premises at the Job Centre focussed on finding employment for 18-24 year olds.
“It was great to meet with Jamie Buchanan, Customer service Leader for the M3 Corridor for an update on developments and meet his team of work coaches to see the new premises adjacent to the existing Job Centre. The centre is focused on helping everyone looking for work, but particularly 18-24 year olds with “ Kickstart” employers.”
“ Jamie and the Job Centre staff have worked tirelessly during the pandemic to support jobseekers and new applicants to Universal Credit. I am delighted to hear that organisations are coming forward to offer opportunities through the kickstart programme and that staff are focussed on working with more and more employers who want to sign up to the scheme. It is clear that the pandemic has had a real effect on employment and the Job Centre has expanded its team of work Coaches to provide face to face support for those seeking work. It was very encouraging to see that a significant number of job seekers are now finding work and things are starting to move in the right direction. ”
Kickstart Employers are coming into the centre on Wednesdays to meet with jobseekers.
Maria added “ The Job centre are also helping with retraining opportunities and the Restart programme. We are very lucky to have such good support here in Basingstoke from JCP for both for those seeking work and Employers seeking to recruit. It is good to hear more and more employers are considering the Kickstart Programme as a great way of recruiting young people and providing them with invaluable experience and opportunities.”
