Maria visited St Michael’s Hospice recently, to meet staff, volunteers and patients and see the new facilities for day patients. Maria also met the Chief Executive of the Hospice, David Monkman, along with Julie Spreadbury, Director of Patient Services and Iain Cameron, Director of Income Generation, to hear about latest developments at the Hospice.
Maria had an update on the Hospice at Home service, which provides care for people in their own homes. She also heard about St Michael’s Care, which is the new domicilliary care agency the Hospice has set up, to provide high quality support at home, and which was recently awarded the outgoing Mayor’s Award for Business.
Maria said: “We are very fortunate to have St Michael’s Hospice here in Basingstoke. It is a fantastic local facility, which many families from Basingstoke, and further afield, rely on at their most difficult times. Whenever I visit the Hospice, there is always something new to see or hear about.”
Maria added: “It was also wonderful to meet some of the staff and volunteers, whose dedication means that the Hospice can continue to provide top quality care to patients and their families.”
