Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke, has given a warm welcome to news that recorded crime in Hampshire has fallen over the last twelve months. Latest figures from the independent Office for National Statistics show that recorded crime in Hampshire fell by 16%.
Maria said: “The news that crime is falling in Hampshire will be warmly welcomed by local people in Basingstoke. Our hardworking police officers can be proud of their success.”
She added: “Because the Government is on the side of people who work hard and do the right thing, we are reforming the police so that they can cut crime and make our communities safer. These figures are clear evidence that those reforms are working.”
