Basingstoke MP Maria Miller, who is also Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, was delighted to be able to take part in the launch of this year’s Basingstoke Festival, held at the Top of the Town recently. The launch was also attended by Cllr Cathy Osselton, the Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Partnerships, and representatives from the local arts and cultural community, such as The Anvil, the Willis Museum and the Proteus Theatre Group, as well as local charities, including the Pink Place and Sebastian’s Action Trust.
Maria said: “Culture and the arts are really important and it is great that the Borough Council is continuing to support the Basingstoke Festival this year. There is a really extensive and eclectic programme, showcasing the vibrant arts and cultural talents that we have in the Basingstoke area.”
